ImageThe line-up for this years' Evolution Emerging has been announced, with 40 of the best emerging artists to play across nine different venues.

Organised by music development agency Generator, the event aims to showcase the best of emerging artists at venues in Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle.

Headlining the event on Saturday May 23 will be three of the North East's biggest acts: Hyde and Beast, Lisbon and Shields.

Hyde and Beast recently released their second studio album Keep Moving, while alt-pop four-piece Lisbon played at Sunderland's Split Festival last year, and have a forthcoming EP due later this year.

Shields are the third co-headliners, playing the Tyne Bar stage, and having performed at the BBC 6 Music Festival last month, they will be raring to make their first appearance at the event, with their forthcoming album titled How Can We Fix This?

They will be joined by pop-punk act Martha, post-rockers Schultz, Figmennt and Kylver.

Elsewhere The Cumberland Arms will host five-piece The Great Curve, set to release their debut EP on April 13, as well as Cape Club, Sons of Bido Lito and Nano Kino, a collaboration between singer Sarah Suri and Maximo Park's Duncan Lloyd.

Doors open at 7pm and tickets are 5 in advance.
