ImageCalling all comedy buffs. Can you name every episode of Friends? Do you have an unhealthy knowledge of Vic and Bob? Thought you were wasting your life watching daily repeats of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet?

Well think again. Yesterday the comedy website Giggle Beats launches a first for North East comedy: the Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz. Hosted by comedians Lee Kyle and Simon Buglass, the quiz is coming to The Hancock pub in Newcastle on the first Monday of every month.

Giggle Beats promise a pub quiz that's funnier, sillier and more rewarding than any other; a totally unique, interactive comedy experience.

There will be topical questions, themed rounds, a music round with a difference and more - plus a special caption competition, with the winner receiving a batch of comedy DVDs from independent comedy distributor Go Faster Stripe.

The quiz will also feature a short stand-up spot for local comics while we count up the scores. Our first guest on Monday 6 May is So You Think You're Funny finalist Jonathan Pelham.

At a recession-busting £2 entry for each team member (up to a maximum of six), the night promises to be a highlight of the North East comedy calendar.

And if you pre-order your team's entry using WeGotTickets, one of you can go free.

Giggle Beats editor Andrew Dipper said: "The idea for a comedy quiz has been knocking around my head for a while now, but I wanted to make sure everything was perfect before spilling the beans.

"We're lucky in that we've got great support from the venue and our sponsors, and we've secured two c≠racking stand-ups to host the quiz for us.

"Lee [Kyle] and Simon [Buglass] have such a great chemistry together off-stage that I'm sure they'll be perfect to host a night like this.
"I'll just be the one dishing out the pens!"

Andrew added: "We're told the venue only holds 60 or so people if you add tables into the mix so we're making tickets available online. People can pre-book and really make a night of it.

"I'm a regular at a few quizzes in the North East, and I want to put on the kind of night I'd like to go to; fun, affordable and a bit chaotic."

The Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz will also be recorded and released as a free monthly podcast on the site's SoundCloud page, meaning comedy fans across the country can play along too.

All you need to do is download the quiz sheet from the Giggle Beats website - no peeking at the answers! - invite a few mates round and you're laughin'.
But the best way to enjoy the quiz is live, and there are some great prizes for those who make the trip to Newcastle.

Sponsors Go Faster Stripe, The Stand Comedy Club and the Comedy Advertising Network have kindly donated top notch comedy merchandise, as well as tickets for the best local and national shows.

There is also a £25 bar tab up for grabs, redeemable on food and drink at The Hancock.

The Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz starts at 8pm on Monday 6 May. Doors open at 7.30pm.
