ImageAn Edinburgh Comedy Award winner is coming to Teesdale this spring. On Saturday 16 March 2013, Daniel Simonsen travels to the Parish Hall in Barnard Castle for a special night of outstanding comedy talent. Simonsen, winner of the prestigious Best Newcomer award for his show Champions, is a unique talent. He blends the surreal with the commonplace with his compelling brand of stand-up - and throws in plenty of proper jokes too.

The Norwegian comic, who also nabbed the So You Think You're Funny title in 2008 before a special appearance on Russell Howard's Good News, will be joined by two other top comedians at Funny Way To Be's first show in 2013.

Pat Cahill's unassuming, absurd outlook has seen him win Best Newcomer 2012 from the comedy website Chortle, and we're delighted to announce he's joining us at the Parish Hall in the spring.

ImageAlfie Brown also makes his first appearance in Teesdale following rave reviews at the 2012 Edinburgh Festival.

Continuing the trend of bringing top tour shows to the North East Phil Cool has signed up for the Funny Way To Be Comedy Club show on Saturday 27 April.

For many years there was only one name on everyone's lips when it came to original and creative comedy.

With award winning series for both the BBC and ITV, Phil Cool and his legendary rubber face was the toast of television. Now, after forty years in the entertainment business, Phil has decided to tour, in the early part of 2013, for just one last time.

Phil Cool's Final Curtain tour will be the last opportunity for the British public to witness the extraordinary ability of the world's only stand up chameleon.  Never again will the master of Faceology be seen in front of a live audience.

Funny Way To Be Comedy Club organiser Peter Dixon said, "We are thrilled to be bringing Phil Cool to Teesdale as part of this very important tour.

"Most of the other dates [on the tour] are theatres he performed at earlier in his career, so it's extra special that he was able to include us in the itinerary."

Peter added: "Our aim has always been to bring top quality comedians to our rural venue. We have always tried to vary the type of shows we put on to make sure that throughout a season we have something for everyone."

"In the early part of 2013 we have a mix of rising talent, one of the UK's best loved comics on his last ever tour and a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian who has just finished a sell-out fifty date tour. I can't wait.

Both shows take place at the Parish Hall in Barnard Castle; they start at 8.00pm, with doors opening at 7.30pm.  There is a bar.

Tickets for all Funny Way To Be shows are available online at http://www.funnywaytobe.com, at the Information Point at Woodleigh and the Old Well Inn in Barnard Castle.
