The Bandits - Take it and Run PDF Print E-mail
Written by Ian Todd

ImageRight then. A group of young lads from Liverpool, in a band, so, they'll be the new Beatles then?  Well, no. They are The Bandits, and are currently Noel Gallagher's new favourite band (his all time favourite band, obviously, being The Beatles.) Anyhow, there's six of them. After just one listen to Take it and Run you get the impression that it sounds a bit soppy - a bit wet - and slightly like a big girl's blouse. Play it again and you start to like it. The acoustic guitar nestling nicely between whiskey-induced scouse vocals; a soothing, folkish harmonica; and a gentle drum beat. After a few more listens you'll find yourself tapping away at your nearest available drum kit (or suitably close-at-hand alternative) and foot tapping a hole into the carpet. And, when it's playing on my ‘top-notch' computer, it's known as ‘Jamboree Song' (?). Bloody good.

Can't wait for their Sgt Peppers.
